Planned Power Outage - Northeast Service Area

Planned Power Outage Map

Grand Rapids Public Utilities (GRPU) will conduct a planned power outage on Thursday, May 28, from approximately 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. to complete system reliability improvements in the Northeast Service Area of Grand Rapids. If inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent the work from being completed, the alternate outage date will be Thursday, June 4, from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. The planned outage will affect customers in portions of the Northeast Grand Rapids area, including areas near La Prairie, Gunn, and surrounding neighborhoods shown on the outage map.

This outage is necessary to complete system maintenance and improve reliability of electric service.

To help protect your equipment during restoration, we recommend unplugging sensitive electronics such as TVs, computers, routers, and gaming systems prior to the outage. Customers should also ensure stoves, space heaters, and similar appliances are turned off before power is restored.

Customers who rely on electrically powered medical equipment should ensure backup power arrangements are in place prior to the outage.

Please note:

  • Crews will work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible
  • Estimated restoration times may change depending on field conditions
  • If your power is restored, please wait a few minutes before reconnecting electronics and restarting large appliances
  • If your outage matches the planned outage area and timeframe listed above, there is no need to report it to dispatch

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this important work.
