Safety Tips:

Stay safe this summer by following some simple but important safety tips. Be sun smart—always protect your skin with sunscreen, reapplying every two hours or after swimming, and wear sunglasses and a hat for added protection. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty, and avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks that can dehydrate you. Never leave kids or pets in vehicles, even for a short time, as temperatures can rise quickly and become dangerous—even with the windows cracked. When swimming, always take a friend and never swim alone, regardless of your skill level. Use life jackets when boating or if you're not a strong swimmer, and always keep a close eye on children near water. Read and follow posted signs at pools, lakes, or beaches to stay informed about potential hazards like strong currents, water quality alerts, or depth changes. Being aware and prepared helps ensure your summer stays fun and accident-free.

Additional Safety Tips:

When grilling, always do so away from structures and never leave the grill unattended, as fires can spread quickly. Be sure to dispose of coals properly to prevent accidental fires. Keep a bucket of water or a fire extinguisher nearby in case of emergencies, and make sure the grill is on a stable surface away from flammable materials. Protect yourself from insects and ticks by using repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants when possible, checking for ticks after spending time outdoors, and avoiding standing water where mosquitoes breed. Clean up food and trash promptly to avoid attracting pests. If you're biking or walking, always wear a helmet, follow traffic rules, and stay visible with reflective gear, especially during early morning or evening hours. Use hand signals when riding to communicate with others on the road, and keep your phone and headphones put away to stay alert. Enjoy your summer while staying safe, smart, and prepared!
