There are many characteristics of the right-of-way, parks, and other publicly owned properties that require the enhancement of Public Safety. Snow Plowing Notifications

The City of Grand Rapids will be implementing a Community Alert System email notification for alerting residents when public works will be plowing.  Residents will be able to sign up online via the City’s website, and will receive an email the evening prior to the plowing event.  The goal is to provide an easy and efficient system that is available to everyone.  To sign up for the Community Alert System,

Permit Portal Permit Portal now open

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, all City of Grand Rapids buildings have been closed to the public until further notice. In an effort to continue to provide essential services, various City applications are now online. Applications for Building permits, Stormwater permits and Right-of-Way permits are available to be submitted online. Additionally, we have a downloadable app that allows Citizen Requests to be sent directly to the Public Works Department. Click on the links for more information.

Grand Rapids MPCA Permit

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) requires the City of Grand Rapids to apply for an MS4 permit due to our population and proximity to the Mississippi River, which is included on the MPCA Impaired Waters List. The MS4 permit regulates how the City must document, monitor, and manage stormwater discharge before entering the river.
