Budget Billing Program

The Budget Billing Program helps make monthly utility bills more predictable by averaging your annual energy usage into equal monthly payments. This program can make budgeting easier by reducing seasonal fluctuations in your bill.

Cold Weather Protection

Grand Rapids Public Utilities participates in Minnesota's Cold Weather Rule, which helps protect eligible residential customers from electric service disconnection during the winter months.

To qualify for protection, customers must comply with the Cold Weather Rule guidelines established by the State of Minnesota.

Salvation Army HeatShare

The Salvation Army HeatShare Program is a voluntary, nonprofit energy assistance program that has helped Minnesota families since 1982. HeatShare provides emergency financial assistance to qualifying households experiencing difficulty paying heating or utility bills, including electricity, natural gas, propane, fuel oil, and wood.

Who Can Receive Assistance?

HeatShare may be able to help:

• Seniors with limited income and few alternative resources.
• Individuals with disabilities who need assistance paying energy costs.
• Households experiencing an unexpected financial hardship or crisis.
• Families who need temporary assistance after other resources have been exhausted.
