What is a scam?

A scam is a deceitful scheme designed to trick individuals into giving away their money, personal information, or valuable data by presenting a seemingly legitimate offer that is too good to be true, often leveraging tactics like urgency, false authority, or emotional manipulation.  Scammers exploit various platforms like email, phone calls, social media, and online marketplaces to target victims, making it crucial to be vigilant and aware of common scam strategies to protect yourself from financial loss and identity theft.
