GRAND RAPIDS PROPERTY BLIGHT

Grand Rapids treats property blight as a public nuisance under city ordinances. Enforcement is handled by Grand Rapids Fire Department or the Grand Rapids Police Department.

When a property is determined to be in violation of the city's blight ordinances, the property owner is issued a notice outlining the violation and a deadline for corrective action. Failure to bring the property into compliance by the specified deadline may result in the issuance of a citation.
