The City of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter.  Requirements include being in good physical health and sound moral character, prepared to fill a position of responsibility and trust.  Experience shows that successful volunteers are usually caring people who are concerned about their community and enjoy working as part of a team. You should also be the type of person who enjoys being challenged and learning new skills.

Firefighter minimum qualifications include high school graduate or GED, possess valid Minnesota State Driver's License, no felony convictions, pass a psychological examination, physical examination, and physical agility test. Must be 18 years of age. This is a paid on-call position.

All persons seeking to join the Grand Rapids Fire Department must live within an eight (8) minute travel time to Grand Rapids fire station, if employment is offered to them.  Candidates may apply and test for the eligibility list even though they live outside of the eight (8) minute travel time. The applicant must reside within the travel time by the date of employment, or he/she will be bumped down the eligibility list and the next qualified candidate shall be selected for employment.
