The Grand Rapids Public Utilities Commission (GRPUC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Operator to perform technical, skilled and administrative functions under general supervision in order to maintain the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of GRPU’s wastewater treatment systems.

Qualified applicants must have:

  • an AAS Degree in Water Resources Management or Pollution Control Technology, or a BS Degree in Biology, Environmental Studies, or closely related field. Applicants may also provide documentation of an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, and
  • a valid Minnesota Commercial Class B driver’s license, with air brake and tanker endorsements, or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment, and
  • the ability to work toward and obtain a MN Type III Solid Waste Facility Operator Certification within one year of the date of employment and ability to work toward and obtain a MN Class C Wastewater Operator Certification within three years of the date of employment.

The starting wage is $30.46 per hour and GRPU provides an excellent health insurance and benefit package. The schedule is a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
