Who may apply for a library card?

Arrowhead Library System residents

A library card is free to any resident who lives in the Arrowhead Library System who presents acceptable identification. The Arrowhead Library System is comprised of the following counties: Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, Lake of the Woods, and St Louis.

As a courtesy to visitors, out-of-state residents may check out materials from the Grand Rapids Area Library for an annual fee of $50.00. A current library card from your home library is required, along with acceptable identification.

Temporary residents

A temporary card is issued to anyone temporarily living in Grand Rapids or to anyone without a permanent address.

Please note: Some of the Library's online resources are not available to non-resident library cardholders.
