Temporary 1-4 Day Liquor License Sales & Service

Temporary liquor licenses are available to:
  • Club or Charitable Organizations
  • Religious or other non-profit organizations in existence for at least three years
  • Political Committee register under Minnesota Statute 10A.14
  • State University
  • Brewer who manufactures fewer than 3,500 barrels of malt liquor in a year
Temporary licenses can be issued for:
  • 1 - 4 days, 12 days total per calendar year and not more than one event within a 30 day period
  • Each license is for one location only
  • Alcohol must remain on premise; patrols may not walk outside the beverage service area
insurance requirements:
  • A certificate of insurance providing that the dispensing of alcoholic beverages by the licensee at the property is fully insured by $500,000 of coverage because of bodily injury to any one person in any one occurrence; $500,000 because of injury to or destruction of property of others in any one occurrence; $500,000 for loss of means of support of any one person in any one occurrence; $500,000 for loss of means of support of two or more persons in any one occurrence; and an aggregate policy limit of dram shop insurance of not less that $500,000.
  • The Certificate of Insurance must indicate the liquor liability covers the specific date and physical location of the event and list the City of Grand Rapids as additionally insured.
application process:
  • Complete application and submit to the City Clerk's office no later than the Wednesday before the Council meeting at which you are requesting approval.  The application and insurance can be submitted via email to kgibeau@grandrapidsmn.gov or mailed to: City of Grand Rapids, 420 N. Pokegama Avenue, Grand Rapids, MN 55744.
    IMPORTANT: This is a Minnesota State issued license and will need approval at a Council meeting not less than 30 days prior to your scheduled event.
  • Pay $20 license fee. Payment may be made by phone by calling: 218-326-7617 or by sending check made payable to: City of Grand Rapids along with the application as stated above.
