These services are provided by quality staff, including 87 full-time and part-time employees, 30 paid-on-call (volunteer) firefighters and 138 seasonal and temporary workers (mostly in recreational programs).

Part-Time Records Technician (Transcriptionist) – Police Department

The City of Grand Rapids is actively recruiting a part-time Records Technician (Transcriptionist) as part of a team for the Grand Rapids Police Department.  This position will perform a range of office functions including:  transcribing, providing reception and clerical services to the police department, insuring prompt and accurate processing of police records, and providing support services relating to the administration of the police department.  Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED and one year of post-secondary education/training plus three years administrative work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be able to type/keyboard 50-55 wpm and be proficient in Microsoft Office systems.  Must exhibit maturity, professionalism, confidentiality and the ability to remain focused on tasks, meet deadlines and show initiative.  Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with demonstrated work experience.  Strong oral communication skills.  Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.  Starting wage is $19.01 per hour.

Minimum qualifications include High School graduate or GED, possess valid Minnesota State Driver's License, no felony convictions and pass a psychological examination, physical examination; physical agility test. Must be 18 years of age. This is a paid on call position.
