Love your Library

By Amy Dettmer, Assistant Library Director

Happy Snowy Day! As I write this the snow is piling up outside and the temperature is dropping. It’s perfect weather to curl up with a print book or a Kindle and read!  Once you get plowed out and can get your car or bike on the road, if you stop in the library you will notice the display case theme is I Love Reading. February is considered I Love to Read Month or Love Your Library Month. Seems like a good time to hole up and read!

If you need some help figuring out what to read next, here are a few ideas.

Readingroupguides.com. The website is part of the Book Report Network. The main highlight of the site is reading guides and discussion questions for thousands of titles. While geared for book groups the site can give you some ideas for what to read next.

Novelist. To access the database you will need an active library card. Access to the database is provided by the Arrowhead Library System. Start at www.cityofgrandrapidsmn.com/library. Click on Online Resources, then Research Databases, and finally Novelist. On the home page, you’ll find a wide range of ways to find books to read.

Upcoming Programs:

Monday, February 11: Book Time. At 9:30 and 10:30 it’s Book Time! Join ECFE teachers in the Story Circle for books, songs, finger plays, flannel board stories, and all other sorts of fun! Then move to the Community Room for a snack, a craft, and a time to play and visit.

Tuesday, February 12, 6:00 p.m.: How to Duo with Pushing Chain. Part instructive, part performance, they will answer questions and play music from their vast catalog of music. This project is funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Recommended for high school students and older.
