Grand Rapids City Council Establishes
IRA Civic Center As Polling Place

The Grand Rapids City Council at their regular meeting of November 12, 2019 established polling places for 2020 elections.  State law allows for polling places to be located outside precinct boundaries provided it be within one mile of the precinct that is served.  City Clerk, Kim Gibeau states, “It has been extremely difficult to find facilities that can serve as a polling place every election year.  The proposed changes to polling locations will provide consistency for voters.”

Starting in 2020, Precinct 1, generally the SE portion of the City, will be located at the Grand Rapids Area Library, the IRA Civic Center will host Precincts 2 and 3, which covers the City north of the Mississippi River, and Precinct 4, generally the SW portion of the City will be located at Zion Lutheran Church.
