The Tall Timber Days Used Book Sale, directed by Friends of Grand Rapids Area Library and the Grand Rapids Area Library Foundation will take place the first full weekend of August during the Tall Timber Days festivities. It will be held at Central Square Mall Friday, August 4th from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5th from 9:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 6th from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Prices drop each day until Sunday’s bag sale when book buyers can fill a large grocery bag for just $5.

The sale offers thousands of gently used books, CD’s, DVD’s, games and puzzles for all ages. It employs nearly a hundred volunteers including people who sort book donations to those who haul boxes of sorted books to the mall and others who set up and operate the 3-day sale.

Coordinator for this year’s sale is Susan Hayes. Her planning committee includes Barb Meyer, in charge of set-up, Cheri Stephens, assisting with publicity, Mary Erickson enrolling volunteers, and Kathy McCarty from the Library Foundation and Carol Steele and Biz Peterson from Friends of the Library.  Mary Jo Wimmer manages the sorting of donations at the library.

Donations of books, CD’s, DVD’s, games and puzzles are requested from the community and can be dropped off at the library during library hours Monday through Saturday until August 1st. More volunteers are needed to set up and run the sale.  Anyone interested in volunteering, can contact Hayes at 218-999-5806 or 218-269-4987. All proceeds from the sale support the library in purchasing new materials and underwriting special programs and projects.

Questions about the sale, contributions or volunteer sign-up can be directed to Susan Hayes, at 999-5806; or by calling the library at 218-326-7640.
